Frequently Asked Questions About Podcast Coaching
It is completely normal to have questions before inviting someone into the development of your podcast.
You may be wondering which service is right for you, whether your idea is developed enough, how much of the writing I can support you with, or whether the finished episode will still sound like you.
I have answered the questions I am asked most often below. And if there is something you are still unsure about, you are always welcome to get in touch.
-
Yes. You do not need to arrive with a finished concept, a podcast name or a complete list of episodes.
You may simply have an idea that has been sitting with you for a while and a sense that podcasting could be the right way to share it.
Through a Podcast Development and Audience Strategy session, we can explore what the podcast is really here to do, who you are speaking to, what makes your perspective different and how your wider ideas could begin taking shape as a clear, connected show.
The technology can also feel overwhelming when you are beginning, so I can help you understand the practical steps in a much simpler way. But the heart of my work begins with your message, your listener and the podcast you are trying to create.
-
Absolutely.
You may already be publishing episodes but feel that the direction has become a little blurred. Perhaps the episodes feel disconnected from one another, you are running out of ideas, your solo episodes are becoming difficult to write, or your interviews are no longer going as deeply as you would like.
We can work on one specific episode, one upcoming guest conversation or the wider direction of the podcast itself.
You do not need to start again. Sometimes the work is simply about stepping back, remembering why the podcast exists and bringing greater clarity to what comes next.
-
You do not need to work that out perfectly before contacting me.
If the whole podcast feels unclear, the Podcast Development and Audience Strategy service is usually the best place to begin.
If you have one episode idea but cannot shape it, a Solo Episode Development Session may be enough.
If you want me to turn your notes, stories or voice recordings into a complete conversational script, Full Solo Episode Writing will be more appropriate.
If you have an upcoming guest and want deeper research, a fresh interview angle and thoughtful questions, Guest Research and Interview Preparation is the right service.
And if you want ongoing support across several episodes, the Monthly Podcast Development Partnership may make more sense.
You can tell me where you are stuck, and I will come back to you honestly about the option I believe would be most helpful.
-
Yes.
You can send me your rough ideas, voice notes, personal stories, previous writing or an early draft, and I can shape those into a complete conversational podcast script.
The process is collaborative because I need to understand what you are genuinely trying to say, how you naturally speak and what you want the listener to receive from the episode.
The aim is not for me to write an episode that sounds like me.
It is for me to find the clearest structure within your ideas and help you communicate them in a way that still feels completely natural when you read the words aloud.
-
That is one of the most important parts of the work.
A script can be beautifully written and still feel wrong if the person reading it would never naturally speak that way.
I pay close attention to your language, sentence rhythm, personality and the way you express ideas. I may ask you to send voice recordings or existing content because hearing how you actually speak helps me protect that within the writing.
The structure should support your voice, not replace it.
You should feel more grounded and prepared when you record, not as though you are performing words that belong to someone else.
-
Yes.
A Solo Episode Development Session is designed for exactly that.
You bring the idea, and together we find the real question within it. We look at what the listener needs, what belongs in this particular episode and how the conversation can move naturally from the opening through to the closing.
You will leave with a clear episode structure and written direction, but you can still write or record the episode yourself.
This can be a wonderful option when you do not need someone to write for you, but you do need help finding the shape of the episode.
-
Yes. Guest research and interview preparation are a central part of my work.
I look beyond the guest’s website and biography to understand their wider body of work, previous podcast interviews, recurring stories and the questions they have already answered many times.
From there, I consider what is most relevant to your particular audience and where there may be space for a fresher or more human conversation to emerge.
You will receive a complete interview brief that may include the overall angle, a conversation journey, guest introduction, opening questions, supporting questions, possible follow-up prompts and areas to remain mindful of.
The purpose is not to give you a rigid script. It is to help you feel prepared enough that you can eventually put the questions down and listen properly.
-
The amount of research depends on the guest and the scope we agree upon.
Some guests have a relatively small public body of work. Others may have written several books, delivered many talks and appeared in dozens of interviews.
My starting price reflects a standard level of research and interview development. If the guest requires a significantly deeper review, I will explain that and confirm the full price before beginning.
You will never receive an unexpected additional charge after the work is underway.
-
Yes.
Podcast interview coaching is not about giving you a list of clever questions or teaching you to perform confidence.
It is about helping you become more present within the conversation.
We can look at how you listen, where you naturally ask strong follow-up questions, where you may move away from an important thread too quickly and how you hold silence, emotion or sensitive moments.
You can send me a recorded or published interview, and I will review it before our coaching session. We can then explore what worked, where the most connected moments appeared and what you may want to practise in future interviews.
The intention is not to turn you into a different kind of host. It is to help you trust yourself more deeply within your own hosting style.
-
Yes, where it supports the wider work.
I understand how overwhelming the technical side can feel, particularly when people use language that assumes you already know what everything means.
I can help you understand the basic recording, video-call and publishing workflow and make those steps feel more manageable.
However, the main focus of my services is podcast development, audience strategy, episode writing, guest research, interview preparation and host mentoring.
I am not a full podcast production agency or audio engineer.
-
Audio and video editing are not currently included in my standard services.
My work happens primarily within the strategy, writing, research and development of the episode.
I can help you think through the recording workflow and what needs to happen before publishing, but detailed audio mixing, video editing, clip production and post-production would need to be completed by you or a specialist editor.
Where helpful, I can help you create a clear brief for an editor so they understand the intended tone and structure of the episode.
-
Yes.
Titles and descriptions can be included within several of my episode-development and writing services.
A strong title needs to be clear enough for someone to understand why the episode matters, while still creating enough curiosity for them to click.
The description should support the listener, communicate the value of the episode and naturally include relevant search language without becoming a block of forced keywords.
I can also help you make sure the title accurately reflects the conversation rather than promising something the episode does not deliver.
-
My work can help you create a clearer podcast, understand your ideal listener and develop episodes that give people a stronger reason to stay and return.
Those things are important foundations for sustainable audience growth.
However, I do not promise a particular number of downloads, views or subscribers, and I do not offer viral-growth guarantees.
There are many factors involved in podcast discovery, including consistency, platform distribution, existing audience, search visibility, guest reach and promotion.
My focus is helping you create something clear, meaningful and genuinely worth listening to. From there, we can make thoughtful decisions about how the podcast is positioned and communicated.
-
Not at all.
You may not have launched yet, or you may already have a small but meaningful audience.
The purpose of podcast development coaching is not to wait until you are established enough to deserve support. It is to help you create greater clarity and intention wherever you are now.
A smaller audience can actually be a beautiful place to refine your voice, understand your listener and build a stronger foundation for the show as it grows.
-
I work with thoughtful, purpose-led people who have something meaningful they want to communicate.
You may be a coach, consultant, author, speaker, therapist, practitioner, founder, educator or small-business owner.
You may want to share your expertise, create deeper trust around your work, explore meaningful ideas or use lived experience to help other people feel less alone.
I am less interested in a particular job title than I am in your intention behind the podcast and the care you want to bring to the listener.
-
Yes.
All podcast coaching sessions are held online by video call, so I work with creators worldwide.
When you book, the calendar will display available times in your local timezone where supported.
For ongoing partnerships, we can also agree on a communication rhythm that works across our different locations.
-
After booking, you will receive a confirmation email and a short questionnaire related to the service you have chosen.
This allows you to share a little more about your podcast, audience and the part of the work you would like us to focus on.
Depending on the service, I may also ask you to send podcast links, a draft script, voice notes, guest information or previous interviews.
For strategy and coaching sessions, you will receive the video-call details before our appointment. For writing or guest-research services, I will confirm the agreed scope and delivery timeframe before the deeper work begins.
-
Sessions are held online by video call.
You will receive the meeting link after booking.
Please join from a quiet space with a stable internet connection and, where possible, use headphones so we can hear one another clearly.
You do not need a professional podcast setup for the coaching session itself.
-
Where a service includes a live podcast development or coaching call, a recording will generally be provided unless otherwise stated in the service description.
The recording is for your personal business use and allows you to return to the conversation without feeling as though you need to take detailed notes throughout the session.
Some packages also include a written roadmap, episode outline or summary.
-
Delivery times depend on the service and my current availability.
A written episode outline or session summary will usually be delivered within the timeframe listed when you book.
Full solo podcast scripts and detailed guest-research briefs require more focused preparation, so the delivery window will be agreed before the work begins.
If you have a fixed recording or publishing date, please share it when you enquire. Rush work may not always be possible and may involve an additional fee where it requires rearranging existing commitments.
-
The number of revisions depends on the service.
Full solo episode writing generally includes one round of reasonable revisions. This is designed to refine wording, tone and smaller parts of the structure rather than completely replace the original direction after the script has been written.
If the concept or brief changes significantly after work begins, additional writing may need to be quoted separately.
The full scope will always be clear before you commit.
-
Monthly Podcast Development Partnerships are designed for podcasters who want consistent creative and strategic support rather than one isolated session.
Depending on the tier, your partnership may include planning calls, episode development, written outlines, full podcast scripts, guest research, interview preparation, host feedback and ongoing support throughout the month.
Packages are billed monthly in advance, and the exact deliverables are defined within your chosen tier.
A three-month initial commitment is recommended because meaningful podcast development tends to happen through continuity rather than one month of disconnected work.
-
Yes, subject to availability.
Additional scripts, guest-research briefs, interview reviews or strategy sessions can be added at the agreed service rate.
It is always best to let me know as early as possible, particularly where the work is connected to a fixed guest recording or publishing date.
-
You are welcome to contact me one one of the contact forms on this site.
Tell me a little about your podcast, where you are in the process and what currently feels difficult.
You do not need to explain it perfectly. I will let you know honestly whether I believe I can help and which service seems like the most appropriate place to begin.
